A Pallet Delivery Service with a Difference!

There is an extensive list of rules that both the organisations looking to ship goods and the logistics companies taking care of the transit process must consider when importing and exporting, requirements that can leave the savviest of business owners a little perplexed.

Here we reveal the legalities that must be considered when using a pallet delivery service to transport goods in wooden crates, drums or pallets so you can comply with the latest international standards.

What import and export requirements must I consider?

Wood packaging, such as crates, drums and pallets, unlock an array of benefits for those wishing to transport goods safely and easily, however when dealing with any aspect of international trade there are a number of legal rules and environmental requirements that must be met before your pallet leaves the UK for its destination.

The quality of the packaging is an important consideration and generally manufacturers of pallets and the finished products must meet criteria outlined in the International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures 15 (ISPM15). In addition to satisfying this international standard, there are a series of destination specific requirements that must be adhered to, which vary from country to country.

Is my shipment exempt from these standards?

There are some exceptions to the rules set out in the ISPM15 and country specific requirements. Wood that measures less than 6mm thick; products comprising of solely plywood, particle board, oriented strand board or chipboard; barrels of wines and spirits; and gift boxes made from wood follow different requirements.
